Our Namesake
The Legend of the Jumping Goat
Legend tells of Kaldi, an Ethiopian goatherder who noticed his flock grew lively, almost dancing, after nibbling the bright red cherries of a wild bush.
Curious, he tried them himself and carried the cherries to a nearby monastery, where they were roasted over a fire. The first cup of coffee was born. We named our roastery after those jumping goats, and that spirit of discovery is in every batch.
